पिंपरी चिंचवड: बांधकामाचे क्षेत्र दिवसेंदिवस वाढत आहे.  झाडांच्या जागेवर इमारती उभ्या राहत आहेत. अशा परिस्थितीत प्रत्येकाने झाडे लावून पर्यावरणाचे रक्षण करावे असे आवाहन देहूरोड कॅन्टोन्मेंट बोर्डचे अध्यक्ष तथा स्टेशन कमांडंट ब्रिगेडीयर अमन कटोच यांनी केले.  शहराच्या अवतीभोवती हिरवाई असणे गरजेचे असून त्यामुळे शहराचे आरोग्य उत्तम राखले जाते.  महापालिकेने शहराच्या आजूबाजूच्या परिसरात वृक्षारोपण मोहिम सुरु केली आहे.  या मोहिमेत सर्वांनी सहभाग घ्यावा, असे आवाहन आयुक्त तथा प्रशासक राजेश पाटील यांनी केले.
पिंपरी चिंचवड महानगरपालिका, देहूरोड कॅन्टोन्मेंट बोर्ड, देहूरोड मिलिटरी स्टेशन आणि वनप्रकल्प विभाग पुणे यांच्या संयुक्त विद्यमाने निगडी येथील लष्करी जागेत वृक्ष लागवड मोहिम घेण्यात आली.  या मोहिमेत सहभागी झालेल्यांना मार्गदर्शन करताना ते बोलत होते.  या कार्यक्रमास वनप्रकल्प विभाग पुण्याच्या विभागीय व्यवस्थापक सारीका जगताप, देहूरोड कॅन्टोन्मेंट बोर्डचे मुख्य कार्यकारी अधिकारी अमितकुमार माने, देहूरोड स्टेशन अॅडम कमांडंट कर्नल एन. चितिरन, वनपरिक्षेत्र अधिकारी वैभव जाधव, महापालिका उपआयुक्त सुभाष इंगळे, उद्यान अधिक्षक जी. आर. गोसावी, सहायक उद्यान अधिक्षक मंजूषा हिंगे, राजेश वसावे,  देहूरोड कॅन्टोन्मेंट बोर्ड शिक्षण विभागाच्या केंद्र प्रमुख एम. एफ. खान, महात्मा गांधी प्राथमिक शाळेचे शिक्षक रमेश कांदळकर, सुलभा शिंदे, आशा गाडे, वाहतुक शाखेचे सहायक पोलीस निरिक्षक प्रशांत आरदवाड, रुपीनगर नागरी कृती समितीचे संदीप जाधव, देवीदास बिरादार, जीवन बो-हाडे, सागर तापकीर यांच्यासह शालेय विद्यार्थी आणि परिसरातील नागरीक उपस्थित होते.
ब्रिगेडीयर अमन कटोच म्हणाले, जागतिक पातळीवर पर्यावरण संतुलनाविषयी चर्चा सुरु आहे. मानवी जीवन सुखकर होण्यासाठी पर्यावरणाचा समतोल राखणे आवश्यक आहे. शहरी भागात वाढते नागरीकरण पाहता आजूबाजूला तसेच शहरात हरीतक्षेत्र असणे अत्यंत गरजेचे आहे. रेड झोनमुळे पिंपरी चिंचवड शहराच्या सीमेवरील काही जागा मोकळी आहे. तेथे बांधकाम होऊ शकत नाही. त्यामुळे याठिकाणी हरीत क्षेत्र तयार करणे शक्य होत आहे.  झाडे लावणे सोपे असते मात्र त्यांचे जतन आणि संवर्धन करणे तितकेच महत्वाचे आहे. या जागेच्या कडेने झाडे लावल्यास मधली जागा लष्कराच्या इतर कामासाठी भविष्य उपयोगात आणताना अडचण येणार नाही.
आयुक्त तथा प्रशासक राजेश पाटील म्हणाले, महापालिकेच्या वतीने यावर्षी ३ लाख झाडे लावण्यात येणार आहे.  शहरात तसेच शहराच्या कडेने असलेल्या जागेमध्ये विशेष मोहिम राबवून वृक्षारोपण केले जात आहे.  निगडी जवळील रेड झोनमधील मोकळ्या जागेच्या कडेने ११ किलोमीटरच्या परिघात सुमारे १ लाख देशी वृक्षांचे रोपण करण्यात येणार आहे.  या रोपणाची सुरुवात आज करण्यात आली असून ३५० प्रजातींमधील देशी झाडांचे रोपण याठिकाणी केले जात आहे.  वृक्षारोपण मोहिमेत विविध शासकीय कार्यालये सहभागी होत आहेत ही चांगली बाब आहे. यापुढेही सर्वांनी अशा मोहिमेत सहभागी व्हावे असे आवाहन आयुक्त तथा प्रशासक राजेश पाटील यांनी केले.
